Droneboats do their damage from drones, not from highslots, which they then can use for anything they like - Nos/neut.

So I suggest that no ships get a larger than normal drone bay.

For T1/T2 frigates it would be 10m3 max.
For T1 or T2 cruisers this would be 25m3 at max.
For T1/T2 battlecruisers it would be 50m3 max.
For T1/T2(!) battleships it would be 125m3 max.

And three new modules are introduced, and seeded.

Small Auxiliary Drone Bay.
Medium Auxiliary Drone Bay.
Large Auxiliary Drone Bay.

Highslot modules.

The small would provide 5m3 of drone space.
The medium would provide 15m3 of drone space.
The large would provide 25m3 of drone space.

This would mean an Ishkur for example would have 10m3 space, or if it used the spare highslot it has, 20m3 space.

It would mean an Arbitrator or Vexor would have 25m3, and if they used 4 of their hislots would give them 85m3, the Vexor has a 5th slot which would take it to 100m3.

The Dominix would have a 125m3 drone bay, and it could increase this to 275m3 by using all 6 hislots.

Effects this would have.

Vexor/Arbitrator pilots would likely go for a full rack of auxiliary drone bays (I would in my Arbitrator). And they'd come out with a touch more redundancy in their drones.

Ishtar pilots would likely go for 2 of them, and have a full rack of medium drones.

Dominix pilots could still go for the nos/ecm Dominix, however they'd only have 1 bank of drones. They could go for 1 or 2 drone bays and have a full rack of heavies and a full rack of lights, or mediums. It would however mean that they didn't have a near inexhaustible supply of drones, plus the full use of their highslots.

I expect to get flamed here, but it's my opinion, and I do feel it wouldn't nerf these ships too hard.

Edit : I should have said, no fitting requirement on the drone bays. Possibly some CPU, but no heavy fiting requirements. Droneboats are very tough to fit as it is, (intentional I think) when you try to use their highslots. They would fit the same as nanofibers, expanded cargo holds, etc.
